How many races do we want to expand this guide with?

Playable races?

I think I'd focus on building upon what's there.

Given the backlash against the new ones already in it, I'd prefer to read suggestions that would make them more accepted.

Any new race should not be "man in suit" hominids.

Take some inspiration from Niven's Pierson's Pupeteers, or Traveller's Hivers and Jagd-il-jgd..

We need 2 eyes, two hands, a mouth, a brain, and a motive system. Other than that...

Start with the Mechanon 2.0 from Issue 8 of the StarFrontiersman :-)  Of course, you are free to use that and change it however you'd like.  I think Corjay is working on Ifshnits 2.0

There could be a player's write up of races found in the modules.  The notui, the ul-mor, kurabanda, heliope, etc.  Or add a whole new region of space with all new races...

I've long been a proponent of homids in Sci fi for the following reason. It is much easier for a player to identify with playing a being whose physical form is something he can on a subconscious level identify with. It is far easier to imagine how a Yazirian moves or interacts with an environment because we understand how a homid moves as opposed to say a gelatinuous jellyfish like creature that floats by blowing gasses through its body. The jelly fish alien might be more interesting a creature, but as a homid species it's easier to play a Yazirian because we can identify with it easier. So please don't discount homid based aliens if you choose to expand the races in the Frontier.

Races should be interesting, but from a game design standpoint they should be easy for the player to understand and play otherwise the alien might as well be window dressing because it won't be popular among players.

I understand that alot of players balk at playing a vrusk or other non human because they "can't wrap their head around the alien or dont understand how to play one" I for one like trying out all the alien species. Although I've had a burn to play the yazirian priest archetype with Kung Fu/Kaine thing with some martial arts since running one in a game as an NPC and I would do what I've never done and play the same character again at the drop of a hat. about the only thing I'm adverse to playing is anthropomorphic animals or fantasy escapees in a sci fi genre and even humans in funny alien suits. I'd even give the my-xine thats been developed on this site a whirl.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

To this end, I have a slew of alien races just waiting for the right vehicle to publish.  :)

Well, then I'd ask what sort of vehicle you're looking for? Since you have not submitted them to the SFman I would guess that its not the right vehicle?

I'd recommend starting a thread in the ZG expanded and post the basic info on it and ellicit feedback. Then do a write up in the docs section.

lol... Actually, SFman is the perfect vehicle for most of the races I have in mind.  I've just got so many other articles planned (and so many submitted, awaited publication) that I'm not sure when I'll get around to them.  A couple are in my SF:Vistas project, and one submitted article does have a new race in it.  I was merely suggesting that I could possibly release some to the ZGExp project, if folks were interested.  :)

BTW we have one new race in each issue through about issue 21 I believe.
Equipment, vehicles, adversaries, creative refereeing, etc are all articles that would hit the publication schedule much faster.
