Just remember the Gullwind was commissioned 20 years prior to the events in Dramune Run, anything happening before that with Garlus and his quintet of drals would have to utilize another ship. With Garlus being a lv-5 pilot in the module, it's safe to say he would easily be lv-3 or 4 prior to acquiring the Gullwind.

I'd be delighted to whip up a pre-Gullwind ship if needed.

Absolutely have at it.

So what kind of ship should we have for Galrus prior to the Gullwind?

As I said he would easily be level 3 or 4 in piloting prior to acquiring the Gullwind, so should the predecessor be larger or smaller than the 'Wind?

FWIW I'm not keen on making deck plans for anything larger than HS:6, simply because once you pass HS:8 you end up with scale issues where you have far more space than things to fill it with. Still, I can see Garlus "trading down" in size just as easily as trading up...many a land-barge SUV or super-duty truck owner secretly lusts for a snappy handling Miata or the like. ;) That said, I could see a modified East Indiaman class freighter customized to address the faulty radar & laser battery issues. That, and the deck plans are already rendered and easy to modify.

On the smaller end we're looking at a civilian scout class ship (merchant scout), a corvette, or an HS:5 freight hauler.

Crew can vary, I like the idea that Garlus picks up the five Drals in Dramune after commissioning the Gullwind so we're wide open to variety here.

I can see trade up or trade down possibilities as well.

Need to think about the requirements of the "story" first and then craft Garlus's ship to fit that especially for the parts where he is inserted.

Alright having looked at the other thread the Tylappar's trilogy titles, if they are crafted into adventures, then they should require a ship with the Millenium Falcon's capabilities ie able to land.

So if its a case of Tylappar trading down then he will need a HS 2-3 lander that docks in a hanger deck.

And I suspect that the Tylappar trilogy should go out with a bang. High stakes Mother of all Space battles at the end where the ship is pounded to scrap and Tylappar takes the insurance money and or salvage scrap profits and buys the Gullwind.

also work in the merchant Ship's captain from the Dragon Article Ebony Eyes. probably a nice touch to use this NPC and base him in the Dramune system. Hell we might also work in the Ebony Eyes material too.

How about this: Tylappar's ship all but destroyed at the end of Tylappar trilogy but he manages to buy the Gullwind with insurance money and investment from the Malthar- explains his association w/ the Malthar.

For Garlus? I'm not familiar with that one...is that something that was featured in the UPF./Sathar Ebony Eyes battle scenario?

So I just finished whipping this up...it's a "base model" and as such Garlus would add a few bits such as a WNB, Skin Sensors, some security programs and the like. All that's really left is to christen her with a name:

LOL @ 10-100...if anyone knows what that is radio code for. Tongue out

You are correct. He is briefly mentioned in the openning paragraph of the article.

ah, i was looking for purple.

This ship works as a small rpg party ship for many of the same reason the Assault scout does.

Noted: Streamlined?

assuming horizonal landing? not vertical?

And name?

The Kazi as in the Japanese Devine Wind? rifting off of Gull "Wind"

Yep, she's an old school ship whose hull design dates back to pf:100 system ships --- as such she lands like an airplane.

I'm on the same page as naming it along the "wind" route, but on the other hand buying it second hand means it could be named anything.

Stellar Mistral is nice.

I was thinking that crew might shorten something like Mistral Dancer and just refer to it amongst themselves as "The Dancer" to strangers its the full name.

Stellar Mistral would shorten to just the "the Stral"

So it's a toss up between Stellar Mistral and Mistral Dancer, either works for me. As far as the nicknames go I thnk "the Dancer" works better than "the Stral".

{EDIT}

In my haste I neglected to add an entry hatch...I'll have to address this on the deck plans.

Flip a coin dude, or pick, you're designing the ship I believe. My vote is probably on dancer just because i like tge shortened nick name but im good either way as i have no emotional money bet on either horse.

I fixed the engineering deck, it now has an airlock. I also recolored the bunk so it matches the others. The ship was missing a lounge area so I addressed that as well with a ceiling-retractable Starplay Enterpsies table & stools. The water closets are now detailed, and finally I whipped up a deck arrangement graphic.

Age of the ship and the likelihood it puts into station berth a lot are why there is not direct engine access from the interior of the ship? Add the complication and expense of overhauls done in a vac suit.

There is direct access, at least to the portion that requires overhauling. Actual engine repair must be performed from outside though.
